East Dulwich is located within the London Borough of Southwark and is fast becoming one of South London’s most desirable locations for both families and young professionals. East Dulwich’s distinct community feel really sets it apart from the neighbouring areas of Brixton, Peckham and Camberwell and is seen by many as a diamond in the rough. Whilst more affordable than the exclusive Dulwich Village to the West, East Dulwich has seen property prices increase significantly and competition to secure housing in the area has become fierce.
Lordship Lane is the main high street running through the heart of East Dulwich offering a varied mix of unique independent retailers. There is a highly popular organic butchers (you’ll queue for 15 minutes to get your bacon on a Saturday morning!), an independent fishmongers and a farm shop alongside a wealth of gastro pubs, restaurants and bars. Northcross Road, situated just off of Lordship Lane, also offers a number of fashionable boutique shops, a traditional sweet shop and cafes, plus there is a bustling street market on Saturdays.
East Dulwich has two great public parks on its doorstep, Dulwich Park and Peckham Rye Park and Common. Both are beautifully maintained and are loved by joggers, dog walkers and young parents out for a family stroll. Dulwich Park has a boating lake, running track, tennis courts, park café and bike hire so there really is something for everyone.
Although there is not a tube station in East Dulwich, there are three train stations, East Dulwich, North Dulwich and Peckham Rye that offer fast services into Waterloo and London Bridge. There are also a number of buses offering frequent services to central London as well as plenty of night bus options. For the keen cyclist, it’s worth pointing out that you can cycle to the city in 30 minutes.
Property in East Dulwich is predominantly a variety of attractive Victorian terrace housing, ranging from two bedroom ‘half houses’ to substantial detached villas. Large back gardens and excellent state and private schools are further reasons why this area is so appealing to young families.

"I put my flat on the market with Beresford Residential after seeing a leaflet at a friend's house. Joe gave me a realistic valuation and very quickly arranged viewings. Ryan handled all the viewings and always let me know when he was going to show someone around. I secured very near the asking price within 3 weeks of going on sale. When the property was undervalued by the surveyor, both Ryan and Joe proved just how professional they were and although I had to drop the agreed price a little bit, the sale proceeded. My buyer's solicitors were atrocious and Joe was just amazing, battling every inch of the way to get to the finish line, my solicitor also spoke very highly of him! Beresford Residential on Mitcham Lane is an excellent office and I have recommended them to other potential sellers in my block and I'll recommend to anyone else selling in the area. 5/5 Stars"
